During an afternoon vocabulary lesson, a teacher decided to challenge her class with a fun exercise. She asked the students to think of words that end with “-tor” and describe something that eats things. The children sat up eagerly, ready to impress.

“Alligator,” he said confidently.

Next, another boy offered his answer.
“Predator.”
“Excellent,” the teacher replied. “Another big word, and a perfect example.”
Then Little Johnny raised his hand — and the teacher felt a familiar wave of caution. Johnny’s answers were always… unpredictable.
“Yes, Johnny?” she asked carefully.
Johnny grinned. “Vibrator, Miss.”
The teacher nearly toppled out of her chair. After catching her breath and regaining her composure, she said, “Well… that is a big word, Johnny, but it doesn’t eat anything.”
Johnny shook his head. “Oh, yes it does. My sister has one, and she says it eats batteries like there’s no tomorrow.”
The classroom erupted in laughter, and the teacher realized once again that no matter how prepared she thought she was, Little Johnny always had a way of surprising her. It was one of those moments teachers everywhere know well — when innocence, honesty, and unintended humor collide.
And as the class settled down, she couldn’t help but laugh too, reminded that teaching wasn’t just about lessons. It was also about the unforgettable moments that came with them.
